Dock grew up in Acme, Tx (five miles west of Quanah) and spent a lot of kid-time watching trains from the Fort Worth and Denver Railroad.
The FW&D trains included the sleek passenger — Zephyr. The local train was the Quanah, Acme, and Pacific Railroad. Purely a freight line, the QA&P was often called the “Quit Arguing & Push”.
Dock was born in Quanah, Texas, which was named for the last Fighting Chief of the Comanches.
Sign hanging on Dorm 3 in the “Quad” area signaled the location of D Company, 1st Battle Group, 1st Brigade. Known as Spider D, this was home during Dock’s Aggie Corps days.
